Engelberg
Sunday 8 January 1995
Weather
Cloud in the valley.
Conditions
The top runs were above the cloud but VERY cold. In places, the light was very flat. Spent a lot of the day looking for runs with sunlight. There was just about enough snow, but there were many rocks showing through. The runs down from the glacier were closed because of crevasse danger.
Overall
The second Technical Managers meeting in Engelberg and a return to the Hotel Hess. Chris came with me to try out his new boots, but the weather really wasn't very kind at all. For all three days of the meeting it snowed heavily and all of the ski runs were closed because of a combination of winds, lack of visibility and avalanche danger.

We arrived on Saturday and on Sunday skied with Pete Smith. Snow cover was adequate but not much more. There were rocks in many places.
In the valley, there was thick cloud, but as we reached the higher elevations, there was some sunlight and the strange sensation of looking down on
the clouds.

We started by taking the two stage gondola up to the Stand area, but after a couple of runs moved over to Jochpass where snow conditions were a little better, but visibility not much. After a couple of runs down the backside we returned to Stand for lunch and up to the Titlis glacier.
Around 2pm, I started to get trouble with cramp, so we made our way gently down to the bottom.
